Camera Museum; Hilmi Nakipoğlu Museum of Cameras awaits visitors who like to take pictures in the middle of the city in Bakırköy, Istanbul.
It doesn’t really matter what your job is to take photos or be interested. Even though Hilmi Bey’s profession is not photography, he was so interested in photography that he created a museum by gathering machines and photographs dating back years.
The museum is located on the top floor of the mentally handicapped school built for Hilmi Bey’s mother. Years that have been given to prepare this collection Hilmi Bey’s museum, a collection of machinery and parts not available anywhere else in Turkey.
In the museum, there are more than 900 cameras of various brands and sizes, from cameras, the oldest of which was from 1896 to today’s machines.
The museum, which offers enthusiasts the opportunity to examine a variety of machines, is a must see for those who are fond of photography and machinery. We also express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the Camera Museum.
History of the Camera Museum
Hilmi Nakipoğlu, who gave the museum its name and was born in 1948, is a photo-loving businessman who started his photography career by printing black and white photographs with 6×6 and 6×9 films. He started to photograph all the activities of the school with the photo club he founded while studying at Private Istanbul College in the 1960s. He was also interested in music, painting, poetry and theater.
Hilmi Bey. Since the 1970s, he began collecting both cameras and photographs. Having set up a school for children with mental disabilities in 1997, Nakipoğlu thought that the collection should be seen by everyone. Realizing this idea, he opened the Hilmi Nakipoğlu Museum of Cameras on the 4th floor of the school.
Camera Museum Entrance Fee and Visiting Hours: It is open to visitors free of charge between 09.00-17.00 on weekdays.

How to get there ?: The nearest IETT bus number 94, Eminönü – Osmayine bus. You must get off at Bakırköy Justice and walk to the end of the opposite street.
