After a careful study, it was opened to visitors as a modern museum on October 16, 1985 by Commander of the Air Force General Halil Sözer and took its place today. The museum serves as the Command attached to the Turkish Air Force.

In the museum, all types of aircraft, helicopter model models and originals, from the oldest aircraft in Turkish air history to balloons and zeppelins, are exhibited.

The museum has a total of 8 exhibition halls on an area of 3000 square meters. Young people, who participated in the model model plane competition held between the youth in October, sit in the cafeteria of the museum and exchange ideas. The museum also has a movie theater (conference hall) with a capacity of 56 people. The museum, which also includes a library suitable for research, has showcases that list the development of aviation history step by step. In these showcases, many model model collections, from the first motor vehicles to warplanes and even space missiles, are on display. The showcase where Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi made his flight from Galata Tower to Üsküdar with his own wings is among the most popular by the visitors.

Turkish Air Force uniform, medals, various paintings are other important sights of the museum. If you want to see 43 aircraft in total, from the first propeller aircraft to the first used aircraft of Turkish Airlines, you should definitely visit this museum.
